Excellent transport links and green mobility options

Travelling by car

The city’s conference and event venues are also accessible by car. For the sake of the environment, all vehicles within the city’s low-emission zone require a green sticker.

Leipzig has a total of six Park & Ride sites. They are located on major access roads and are directly linked to Leipzig’s dense public transport network. They make it easier for you to get around. All Park & Ride sites are open around the clock and free to use.

Leave your car behind and protect the environment – use car sharing with the providers cityflitzer, teilAuto and Flinkster.

With Leipzig’s oldest radio taxi centre and over 250 taxis, the number 4884 is there for you reliably and quickly around the clock.

Situated at the intersection of two military and trade routes, over the years Leipzig grew as a trade fair and commercial centre. Today, more transport links than ever before converge here from all directions.

Leipzig’s proximity to the A9, A14 and A38 motorways provides easy access from the German autobahn network. The city centre can be reached via the following exits:

  • From the direction of Berlin and Magdeburg via the A14, exit at Leipzig-Mitte
  • From the direction of Dresden via the A14, exit at Leipzig-Ost
  • From the direction of Munich and Erfurt via the A38, exit at Leipzig-Südwest

Electric mobility in Leipzig

Leipzig is already an industrial location for electric vehicles thanks to BMW and Porsche. With currently 540 charging points, some of which are operated by the public utility company Stadtwerke Leipzig, you can charge your electric car conveniently and cost-effectively.
But Leipzig has bigger ambitions: the city aims to become a pioneer of e-mobility in Germany. Numerous initiatives and projects are driving this vision forward, making Leipzig a haven for electric cars. Alongside an extensive network of charging points, you can even charge your electric car directly from an innovative LED lantern.

Mobility on two wheels

Leipzig’s compact size, flat terrain and excellent cycle paths mean that many conference and event venues are easily accessible by bike or e-scooter. If you don’t bring your own bike, there are plenty of rental stations around the city. Leipzig is also ideal for e-bikers: there are charging points and self-help bicycle workshops not only in the city centre, but also in the surrounding districts. Cycling along the idyllic cycle paths in and around Leipzig is the perfect complement to your event. High-speed cycle paths between Leipzig and surrounding towns are also in the pipeline.
