Are you planning a meeting or conference in Leipzig and in need of a venue for your evening event? Especially for events spanning several days, the importance of having the right social programme to keep delegates motivated cannot be overstated.
It is particularly practical if the venue offers options for the time after the conference day and a smooth transition from business to after-work events can be achieved.
From casual get-togethers to welcome dinners, from unusual tours to joint visits to cultural events, here are some tips and inspiration for the evenings during your conference.

1. Zoo Leipzig

The ‘zoo of the future’ is one of the oldest and most respected zoos in Germany and is particularly renowned for its commitment to the conservation of endangered species.
Conveniently located to the north-west of Leipzig city centre, Zoo Leipzig is a popular choice not only for conferences but also for supporting programmes in the evening. You can choose from eight different venues to suit your needs.

Hacienda Las Casas is popular for large group dinners. The stylish restaurant can cater for groups of up to 100 and serves South American specialities. The outdoor seating area overlooking the animal enclosures is second to none. In combination with the terrace, this outdoor area has a capacity for up to 300 people and is a great place to watch capybaras and other South American animals.

Are you busy planning for the day and in need of a complete package for your evening event? Leave the planning to the event professionals from Zoo Leipzig and book the Fiesta do Brasil with buffet and show.
Fancy a bit more adventure? In Gondwanaland, you can get a real taste of the jungle. With Far Eastern flair, the flexible function rooms can accommodate up to 220 guests and are equipped with the latest conference technology.
At the end of a demanding conference programme, your guests will be able to enjoy a show or get active themselves: the strain of a long day will evaporate with a boat ride on the jungle river and a walk along the treetop trail.

The Kiwara Kopje open-air event space is ideal for events with up to 1,000 people. For an unforgettable experience, we recommend an evening visit to the zoo, including an explorer tour – when the nocturnal animals are just getting started.

2. Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig

Business, entertainment and dining all under one roof? Centrally located in the city centre, Krystallpalast Varieté offers a 200-seat auditorium and a restaurant that seats 100. Hire the whole venue or individual rooms for meetings, workshops and congresses – an exceptional setting for your special event.
In the elegant Varieté Restaurant, colleagues and business associates can relax after a day of formal input over a dinner of regional and international cuisine.

And if you want to offer your guests the icing on the cake, you have the unique opportunity to do so from Wednesday to Sunday. Book a complete variety show – either planned by the event professionals or created entirely to suit your own ideas and requirements.

3. The Gewandhaus

The Gewandhaus is steeped in tradition and attracts over half a million visitors every year. Most of them enjoy the classical concerts of the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra, which is the world’s largest professional orchestra and has an excellent reputation. The historic building also hosts many other events, including congresses, conferences, shows and other MICE formats. With more than 50 years of orchestral history since its inauguration in 1981, the (new) Gewandhaus offers a stylish setting for exclusive and tailor-made events.
Would you like to offer your conference participants a special atmosphere during the day as well as in the evening? The Gewandhaus is sure to impress!
The Great Hall, fully air-conditioned and with amphitheatre-style seating, is suitable for concerts and performances for up to 1,900 people. The 182 m2 podium provides the perfect stage to showcase ideas and information. The Great Hall has foyers on three levels.
The multi-functional Mendelssohn Hall with accompanying foyer is ideal for organising a reading, concert or banquet for your delegates.
The foyer on the Barlach Level of the Gewandhaus is very atmospheric and offers space for receptions, welcome dinners and meetings.

Other evening options include a guided tour of the Gewandhaus or a concert.

4. Moritzbastei

Leipzig’s Moritzbastei is an institution. Centrally located – just next to the university – it is the only remaining part of the former city fortifications.
This unique setting is used not only by the resident cultural centre, but also by event planners who book the vaulted cellars and leafy courtyards for events such as welcome dinners, get-togethers and team-building activities.
There are plenty of options for an exciting evening in the different areas of the Moritzbastei: when the weather’s nice, shake a leg on the rooftop terrace or end the day with a film at the summer cinema; enjoy dinner in one of the eight impressive vaulted cellars or host a glittering Christmas party in December.

Our tip: The Veranstaltungstonne, one of the most beautiful 16th-century vaults in Germany, offers an incomparable atmosphere for concerts, shows and performances, including modern lighting and sound technology. The Moritzbastei team will be happy to advise you and organise a suitable entertainment programme on request.
